Download Love the Way you Lie – Eminem Featuring Rihanna

Posted by admin Comments off

“Love the Way You Lie” is about as close as Eminem has ever gotten to a love song in his career, and ironically, it’s actually a song about an abusive relationship.

The Alex Da Kid-produced track, featuring Rihanna on the chorus, is among the standout tracks on Recovery, which leaked on Monday, two weeks before its June 22 release.

Though the Detroit MC never mentions his former flame, Kim Mathers, by name, the ode appears to address their tumultuous relationship.

“Wait, where you going? I’m leaving you,” Eminem raps on the opening verse. “No, you ain’t, come back/ We running right back/ Here we go again/ It’s insane, ’cause when it’s going good, it’s going great/ I’m Superman, with the wind to his back/ She’s Lois Lane/ But when it’s bad, it’s awful/ I feel so ashamed/ I snap, ‘Who’s that dude? I don’t even know his name’/ I laid hands on her/ I’ll never stoop so low again/ I guess I don’t know my own strength.”

Of course, having Rihanna sing on a song about an abusive relationship carries meaning on its own. On the track, she croons over guitar licks and piano stabs, balancing out the emotionally charged verses.

“Just gonna stand there and watch me burn/ Well, that’s all right because I like the way it hurts,” she sings. “Just gonna stand there and hear me cry/ Well, that’s all right because I love the way you lie.”

Throughout the song, Eminem’s voice builds and becomes flush with a mix of fondness and angered regret from his failed relationship.

He describes their union as a “tornado meets a volcano.”

In the next verse, Eminem ranges from apologetic to accepting the end.

“Yesterday is over, it’s a different day,” he raps. “Sounds like broken records playing over/ But you promised her, next time you’ll show restraint/ You don’t get another chance, life is no Nintendo game/ But you lied, now you get to watch her leave out the window/ I guess that’s why they call it window pane.”

In an interview overseas recently, Eminem explained his decision to include Rihanna on the album after he had already recorded the track.

“As far as the songs with Pink and Rihanna … when I did the song that I did with Pink, I laid my parts first and kind of heard her on the record and felt that she would smash this record,” Em told Skyrock Radio in Paris. “And the other one I did with Rihanna is one of those tracks that I felt like only she could pull it off, only she could do it.”

McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and The Pizza Hut

Posted by admin Comments off

When the term “pop music” is used almost everyone has a specific idea as to what is being described. When we hear the term we visualise a particular band and/or singer. Westlife, Girls Aloud, Britney Spears, Take That and the various winners and losers of such shows like the X-Factor and Pop Idol. Pop music is very distinctive. We know the difference between jazz and pop, soul and pop, rock and pop.

Pop music is seen as very commercial (manufactured); it appeals to a mass audience (it is very popular). And yet it often gets a raw deal.

Westlife have had 14 number one singles, Take That sold 30 million records between 1991-1996, as of 2009 Boyzone have sold 20 million records (facts taken from Wikipedia), Madonna has been a musical force to be reckoned with for thirty years and yet to admit a love of pop music is to risk being ridiculed.

There is a certain musical snobbery. Those who enjoy classical music think themselves more educated (superior) to those who know every word of Agadoo or YMCA. There are those for who rock or metal is the highest form of music. Those who worship Ozzy Osborne, Marilyn Manson or Megadeth see themselves as better than lovers of pop music; considering themselves edgier, more daring (more willing to push the boundaries). And there is a certain amount of snobbery coming from those who prefer less commercial music (something not as popular).

Musicians that have only a few loyal followers are seen as better than those who have millions of fans worldwide. It is as though the very fact of their success is a negative. If everyone likes them there must be something wrong with them, is the unspoken considered opinion.

To me this smacks of jealousy. Those who haven’t sold as many records, made as much money, like to think that the only reason that Kylie is such a success is that all her fans are brain-dead sheep-like morons who wouldn’t know good music if it was pumped directly into their minds. I suspect that they wouldn’t be complaining if they suddenly became as popular as the petite Aussie.

Pop music is seen as many things: commercial, manufactured, conservative, cheesy, sweet and sugary, short and simple, soft, ephemeral and accessible, appealing to a general rather than specific audience and focusing more on the recording, production and technological side of things to that of live performing.

And yes, a lot of this is true and so what? There’s nothing wrong with that.

We live in a commercial, materialistic world. You cannot deny that. For most societies life is about what you have got: houses, cars, clothes and jewellery etc. If our music is created first and foremost for the purposes of making money so what? It is merely a reflection of the times we live in. That doesn’t mean that the music is not worthy of appreciation. All music is worthy of appreciation, whether it be classical, pop, rock, Goth or indie. Music doesn’t have to be dark or edgy, ground-breaking or offensive in order for it to be enjoyed. Music is music. It is good or bad depending on individual opinion. There is good pop music and bad pop music just as there is good Goth music and bad Goth music; good rock and bad rock, good classical and bad classical.

Why should anyone feel embarrassed by their own particular taste; why should anyone feel superior because of their taste?

Cliff Richard has sold more than 250 million records in a career spanning fifty years (rather dismissing the idea of pop as ephemeral). Aerosmith have sold 150 million records over thirty nine years. Andrea Bocelli has sold over 70 million albums worldwide over a seventeen year period. Pop, metal and classical, from just these three artists alone, are genres with large followings. If you were to factor in every known singer and/or band in the world I doubt there would be a genre without some sort of following. Some may have millions of fans; others may only have a few thousand or even a few hundred but no one genre is better or worse than another.

It is all about individual preferences. Some may prefer Eminem to Cheryl Cole. Others may prefer easy listening to punk rock but to claim an intellectual or moral superiority based on taste alone is just…well, silly.

My own musical taste is eclectic. I like pop, rock, classical and soul. I like Irish music, be it Westlife or Clannad. I like Scottish bagpipe music, steel band music and panpipes. I like American, English and Italian singers. I like Cliff Richard and Eminem. I was not crazy about Take That when they first came out but now I think they are brilliant. I like some, but not all, of the singles Britney Spears has released and I am a fan of Phil Collins. I like Pink and Celine Dion. I know the words to YMCA and I enjoy the music of Mendelssohn and Strauss. I like a big ballad and a little cheesy fluff like The Chicken Song. I have quite a large selection of film soundtracks, from Lord of the Rings to Tomb Raider. I am not in general a fan of dance music but there are one or two tracks I do enjoy and there are some hymns and Christmas carols that I like. As I go through life my album collection grows and new genes are added. It could be said that my main body of music is pop orientated but that doesn’t mean that I think pop is better than classical or rock, or any other type of music. I like what sounds good to me. I like what gets my foot tapping. I like what moves me (what stirs my soul). I like music that makes me laugh; music that makes me cry. I like music that lifts me and transports me to somewhere better.

I say enjoy your music, whatever it may be: punk, Goth, house, garage, rock, pop or classical. Do not be so arrogant as to think that your taste is better than someone else’s and do not be embarrassed to say “you know what, I happen to like Girls Aloud, so sue me.”

Top 5 Rap Songs

Posted by admin Comments off

This is a list of what I believe are the best rap songs of all time.  They are not listed in order.  Enjoy!

Notorious B.I.G. – “Juicy”

In the hearts and minds of millions Christopher George Latore Wallace, also known as Notorious B.I.G. or simply Biggie, will always be remembered as one of the greatest rappers to have ever lived.  “Juicy” is definitely one of the most touching songs of the artist.  It talks about his life and how he went from selling drugs and living an everyday struggle to being one of the most loved and respected artists of the decade.

Eminem – “Lose Yourself”

It seems that Eminem appears to be in every rap playlist on the internet.  He is without a doubt one of the best rappers of all time.   His powerful words have affected the lives of millions around the world. “Lose Yourself” is a perfect example of the artist’s lyrical talent.  The main message behind this motivational song is to never give up in life and always pursue your dreams because everything is possible.  It has managed to remain at the top of every hip hop/rap playlist ever since it was first released in October of 2002.

2pac – “Keep Ya Head Up”

Here is another true legend of rap.  Tupac Shakur is another true artist that has motivated and changed the lives of millions of people around the world.  He was looked upon as a savior within the African-American communities of the United States in the 1990’s.  Some people have even referred to him as the “black Jesus”.   The song “Keep Ya Head Up” is only one of the hundreds of masterpieces that 2pac managed to create during his short career.  This song talks about women, especially women of color living in the so-called “ghettos” of the 1990’s.  The touching lyrics of the song describe how these women shouldn’t let their husbands and boyfriends treat them like property and how they should take control of their own lives.

2pac – “Dear Mama”

He had to be on this list more than once.  “Dear Mama” is another perfect example of the truly magical lyrics that this man was able to put together.  This touching song talks Tupac’s mother and her struggles while trying to raise two children without a husband.  It brings out the real problems and troubles of being a single mother and living in an urban area, where serious drug and crime problems are part of the everyday routine.

Nas – “If I Ruled the World”

Nas is another great example of the great old school rappers and their endless talent.  This rapper from Queens, New York still remains one of the best lyricists in the music industry.  “If I Ruled the World” is another hip hop masterpiece which describes the everyday struggles of life and it also obviously describes what Nas would do if he figuratively ruled the world.

Medicine Ball and Limitless Star’s collaborator releases new Dubstep project “Semi-Pro Mixtape”

Posted by admin Comments off

Troy Coulon, whom worked with Eminem in “Eminem: Where Have You Been” and Robert Deniro in “Stone” just completed a “Semi-Pro Mixtape”

Eminem and Deniro, arguably the most successful and top artists of their generation and media have a stellar career track record. Coulon, is coming down off an “Exit the King” production in the sunny paradise on the golden coast a la Santa Barbara, California. Deniro is coming off of “Limitless” and Eminem is coming off of a new Shady Records collaboration on a “Bad Meets Evil” Project. Coulon found dubstep and the 13 track mixtape is showing his new direction. “He really stays in character” says Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager. “I like Troy” says Eminem’s business manager, Joel Martin and owner of Web Entertainment, Eminem’s business manager.

Troy Coulon, whom is on a tireless mixtape campaign is also an entrepreneur with a line of coul notes and soon to come, coul clothes now available on amazon and itunes. “I’m happy to have collaborated with Bassnectar and DoctorP” says Coulon as he sips a superabundance of rosebud tea in San Francisco, CA. “I stopped war dialing people and I’m way over need, unfulfilled desires, or unfocusedness.”

Checkaz, aka Stephen Marvin, aka Troy Coulon and Eminem can be found in a remix of “Medicine Ball” and that is what garnered the attention to the management of Shady Records. Coulon has also released a Dub Steppa Mixtape, Dub Headz Mixtape, Dub Mattaz mixtape, and so forth. All these projects are youtube playlists.

“Considering the white rappers coming up now it seems about time to have American emcees on killer dubstep tracks.

Dubstep is a buzzword and its going to be underground for a while even though they’re rocking out with thousands of people turning out. The movement is incredible and its either going to be like this is it or its going to be a sound that grows and influences every other music out there yet the media is the media. T is just coming off of a seven month project via Santa Barbara in which he starred in a 1950′s play about non-conformity entitled “Rhinoceros” (also a 1974 movie starring Gene Wilder). “When I was in Detroit, I made my bread founding companies, acting, and completely stopped rapping or building the “coul” brand. Now, in Central California, Coolon knows of only one other rapper in this area and that is Snoop Dogg” Eminem’s uncle but not a cracker.

Eminem is its own economy. Its a real business making sure people pay this more than a billion dollar enterprise. It shall be interesting what records come out of this new Shady lineup and hopefully it could be mroe productive than the new no limit records that came out of New Orleans after Mystikal, Snoop Dogg, Mr. Magic, Silk the Shocker, C-Murder, and so forth dropped out of the rotation and Master P just wanted to “make a million.”

Troy Coulon began…
