Cult Movies (and Not Only): Vampyros Lesbos

Posted by admin Comments off

“Vampyros Lesbos” released on 15 of July 1971 in West Germany. The film directed by the cult Spaniard director Jesus Franco. As its title indicates, this film is a lesbian erotic horror story, advertises as “A Psycho-Sex-adelic Horror Freak-out” !

The storyline in a few words is about Linda Westinghouse (played by Ewa Strömberg), a lawyer who works in Turkey and travels to meet Countess Nadine Carody (Soledad Miranda or Suzann Korda, both are stage names) about an inheritance from Dracula. Into Linda’s nightmares a brunette woman appears. She soon realizes that this woman have the face of the Countess. Finally, Nadine is a vampire who seduces Linda and drinks her blood. Franco also appears in the film as a creepy hotel worker.

By some opinions the film is badly directed, as the cameraman makes frequent zooms, so dream and reality scenes mixed in a “terrible mess”.  By others the film is a masterpiece and a must-see for fans of sleazy horror, filled with “hallucinatory atmosphere and sensuality”. No matter on which side someone may find himself, my opinion is that no one can denies  Soledad’s hypnotic performance and also her fragile beauty.

Soledad Miranda Image source

Soledad Rendón Bueno(”Soledad” translates as “solitude”) was born in Seville, Spain by Portuguese parents on 9 July 1943 (more about her bio here).  Unfortunately, she died in a car accident near Lisbon on 18 August 1970. Shortly before her death, she had been offered a contract by the major German producer Artur Brauner who discovered her into Franco’s work.

In addition, equally important about this film is the music score. The main musical theme is a David Khune’s composition (nickname of Jesus Franco). The rest of the compositions came by Manfred Hübler and Siegfried Schwab. Schwab and Hübler wrote music for three Franco’s films. The other two were the “Der Teufel Kam Aus Akasava” (1971) and “Sie Tötete In Ekstase” (1970). Schwab was a German guitarist and among others a member of the German band “Embryo”. The psychedelic-funk-jazz compositions of the album indicate the musical meaning of exploitation movies of the early 70s. Speaking about exploitation, in Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown” a Manfred Hübler’s synthesis of sounds can be found which was written in 1971 and titled “The Lions and the Cucumber”.

With no doubt, “Vampyros Lesbos” is a cult film and its soundtrack is a “must” for garage-psychedelic music fans and maniacs of “ruthless” farfisa themes.

“Would You Like Some Tea, Dear?”

Posted by admin Comments off

On December 26, 1871, the beautiful Adele “Libby” Charbonneau married the darkly handsome Edouard Boisvert. Against the snowy backdrop of Adams, Massachusetts, the two set out on a lifetime together, promises and hope abounded. But that idealism of youth was to be cut short.

Libby, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Charbonneau, was one among thirteen brothers and sisters. Her life was difficult and young Libby never quite seemed to carve out a place for herself among the chaos that was her family. She dreamed of a life of quiet happiness and contented herself in the hopes of her “knight in shining armor” would whisk her away to her dream of riches and goodness; no more hand me down clothes or hunger for her! She dreamed of children and a future without the struggle or want that had been her miserable childhood.

When Libby was 25 years old, she believed that her hopes and dreams had come to fruition with the apperance of Edouard Boisvert, a man from Canada who had an indomitable spirit and a zest for fun and adventure. He was handsome, he had a charming accent, and he was the answer to Libby’s prayers. From the moment of their meeting, it was clear that they shared spark between the two and it was only a matter of time before the couple announced their intentions to wed, much to Libby’s parents’ chargrin. At the time of the announcement, Edouard was a mere 23 years old, with no real job prospects or living arrangements for the couple. This barely slowed the pair down, as they married 3 months later.

Life was anything but ideal for Libby and Edouard. Their home was modest; the best to be hoped for with Edouard struggling to find and keep work. Libby maintained the home with little to no money. “Love would conquer all” would become Libby’s mantra.

In the fall of 1872, Libby gave birth to a son. A time that should have been joyful, further strained the lives of the young couple. Edouard found solace with other women and alcohol, sometimes not returning to Libby and his son for days. On the nights that Libby was alone with her newborn son, she would lament of what could have been; what she felt she deserved. She found no comfort with her family who would openly voice their previous opinions on the marriage that she “hurried into”–a rash marriage with no thought towards the future. Libby was again on her own with her dreams. A terrifying place to be, she knew only too well. For 15 years, Libby lived with the intermittent comings and goings of her husband, until one day, he told her that he wouldn’t be coming home at all…ever again.

Edouard had found that life without obligations or responsibilities suited him well. He would share the homes of various women that he would meet among his travels. These women, unlike Libby, were content to shelter and accommodate him; no pressure to bring money home, no pressure for anything but his company.

After 16 years of marriage, living in the bleak hope that Edouard would come to his senses and return, Libby had had enough. She had given this man her life, she had bore him a son, and she had alienated herself from her family, not to mention the behind the hand whispers of her pious neighbors. With no one to turn to, Libby decided that the time was right to take matters into her own hands. She dwelled on the fact that he was living the good life, while she and their son, lived hand to mouth; relying upon the Christian charity of her neighbors. Again, Libby fell into the comfortable world of imagination.

Soon she came up with a plan to end her suffering once and for all. Never again would she tearfully watch out her window for Edouard’s return, never again would she hope for a future with him–never again! Her plan would work but she needed to engage her son, unknowingly, into the plot.

On a warm summer’s night in 1888, Edouard would return for the last time to the home that he had once shared with Libby. At the request of his son, Edouard came to see Libby. He was under the impression that an item was left to him by his late paternal grandfather and was given to Libby to delegate to him, as he had no permanent address.

Libby met Edouard at the door and invited him in. Her face not revealing that he would soon meet his dire fate. “Would you like some tea, dear?”, was the only question that was asked. Unfortunately for Edouard, he did.

Earlier in the day, Libby had been meticulously boiling out the teapots with lye. Lye being the cleanser for the cast iron kettles of the time.

When the police arrived that evening, after a tearful diatribe from Libby, Edouard was found dead on the floor, poisoned by the lye that was, inadvertently, left in the tea kettle that she had cleansed prior to his arrival. Libby was questioned but, due to her profound emotional state, not considered a murderess, just a harassed and grieving wife.

The entire incident was deemed accidental, and the case was closed.

In 1905 Libby remarried and found her long awaited happiness. Her second husband lived to the ripe old age of 93.

What Was Chuck Liddell’s New Ufc 115 Entrance Music?

Posted by admin Comments off

Chuck Liddell’s new UFC 115 entrance music debuted for the entire world to hear at the Vancouver event, and it also was the first time many fans heard a new music by a popular hip hop artist.

The song, replacing many other Liddell favorites such as “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot” by DMX that Liddell has used in the past, caught a lot of fans a bit off-guard when he came in.

The new Chuck Liddell UFC 115 entrance music was the song “Won’t Back Down” by Eminem featuring pop singer P!NK off the album “Recovery.”

The song is becoming very popular since it has leaked on the Internet with its crazy and classic Eminem punch-lines that many people have a hard time forgetting.

Liddell also seemingly picked the right music going into the fight since it is off the album “Recovery,” which is all about Eminem’s comeback as a person and getting clean and on the right path again.

Liddell seemed to be on the same path himself and he gave a decent performance at UFC 115 against Rich Franklin but he got KO’d at the end of round one.

Eminem will probably go on to sell millions of albums, however. Hopefully Liddell can have a similar success story before he retires from the Octagon.

Nevertheless, many fans are buzzing about the music and the fight on Saturday night as well at UFC 115.

Liddell’s new UFC 115 entrance music will be remembered for a while and there’s a solid chance he might come out to it again.

While many UFC fans miss his old songs, Chuck Liddell’s UFC 115 entrance music was pretty memorable this time around.

How to Acknowledge Your Childrens Emotion?

Posted by admin Comments off

if I’ve had a bad day and I’m upset, the last thing I want to hear from my friend is advice, amateur psychology, her point of view, or a dismissive comment such as, ‘Oohh, you’re just overreacting. You’ll feel differently tomorrow!’ I want her to listen, really listen, to me. I want her to empathise with me.

When someone acknowledges my feelings and makes sympathetic noises,I can get all the bad feeling of the day out of my system. In fact I often formulate my views and opinions by talking through all my bad feelings with someone else.

Children are no different. If they just have a listening ear and a sympathetic parent who gives them the time they need, they often help themselves and solve their own problems. Empathy is key to becoming a better parent. This vital skill doesn’t come naturally, though, unless you practise it.

Use the following technique to practise and develop your empathy skills.

1. Consider an emotionally charged statement that your child recently said to you.
Examples of emotionally charged kid-talk may be, ‘The science teacher shouted at me and everybody laughed’ or ‘I’d like to punch Matt on the nose!’

2. Write down (or in an actual conversation, think) of the word that describes the emotion that you think your child is feeling.
For example, in the science teacher situation, your child may be feeling embarrassment; with regards to Matt, he may be feeling anger.

3. Write down (or formulate in your mind) a sentence to show that you understand what emotion your child is feeling.
To respond to the science teacher situation, you might say to your child, ‘That must have been really embarrassing.’ What you’re doing here is helping give a name to a feeling. Your children may not know exactly what they’re feeling, but they know they’re feeling something.

Parents often don’t think to respond to their children in the preceding way.Sometimes they worry that they’ll make the feelings worse. Actually, the opposite situation is true. Children really appreciate having someone acknowledge their experiences. They find this recognition comforting and can relax.

One of the most illuminating and helpful parenting books I have ever read is How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk, by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish (Picadilly Press Ltd). The book shows these communication skills in action in a down-to-earth, no-nonsense way using funny cartoons to illustrate their points. This is a good book to explore the topic in more depth.

Kanye West Has Hit on Every Single Theme of The Establishment, Now How is This Supposed to be Different?

Posted by admin Comments off

I used to have a lot of respect for Kanye West back in the day.  A bourgeois negro was reaching across the aisle and showing left out, disenfranchised African-Americans a better way.  Pointing them towards the light.  If anything, a middle class conscious artist, instead of a poor one.  But he has lost me on his latest project.  A provocateur, but what is he really getting at?  Is it an interpretation of the same themes, or does he really believe in these values which are contradictory to everything that could really help us and uplift us as African-American.  Look at the themes in context.

White Women

If he isn’t worshiping White women on his album covers or in his videos he is carrying out violence against them.  You could say that it is a critique of the demented relationship and sexual tension that White women and Black men have with each other.  It is always ballerinas, “Black Swan” like characters who are elevated through high art, desirable because of what they represent on an artistic and intellectual level.  He needs White women that are on his level artistically and intellectually, so he cannot be with just any White women.  At the same time he despises these women because he has to exalt himself in their presence and there is the self loathing, yet self-aggrandizement of himself, you know, because that is what a n&gger that believes in himself that much does.  The incident with Taylor Swift shows how art imitates life; he hates the adoration of Taylor Swift, which is pure and White like snow, all American, innocent and chaste (she just wants the boy on the football team to like her) so he exalts a Black woman whose claim to fame is selling us onto schizophrenic behavior (multiple personalities, being controlled by the same vices that define her in order to exalt herself, but can always go back to being a good girl around the way, all a slick context for spiritual and demonic possession).  Everyone was paying attention to the audacity and nerve of this n&gger to attack an innocent White woman in this way, no one was paying attention to the context of what transpired and how he was setting you up for what was going to come out on his next album.  So he hates the women for the same reasons that he loves them.  The violence is a representation of how these relationships go wrong on so many levels.

Fallen Angles

In order to elevate yourself beyond the mediocrity of being human you have to take advantage of the opportunities to have relations with supernatural beings, spiritual deities, and aliens whenever possible.  Knowledge is not enough for Kanye West; he has bitten off of the tree of evil and wants to be on the same level as God.  So the spirit of the Anti-Christ has taken over and he makes a way for the fallen so that he can create an army.  That is why he attends the rally where the head of Michael Jackson is carried through the crowd, worshiped and adored.  He wants the same influence that Michael Jackson had with his fans, he wants to be table to take them to those same places.  Listening to Michael Jackson, attending his concerts and watching his videos, was more than just music, it was about a heavenly experience.  Kanye West wants to be able to connect with his fans on that deep, profound level.

Post-materialism

If you weren’t listening Kanye West addressed the hypocrisy of diamonds a long time ago.  Light skinned women are the new “ice”, the new “bling”, that Black men are caught up with in the last days, conveniently ignoring the fact that they are in the New World Order and they have been programmed to like light skinned women; everyone is a slave.  It is all so 1985; instead of selling us onto trans-humanism, like everyone else is doing, Kanye West is taking it to an entirely new level.  Look for the answers within yourself.

See Kanye West is a proud, smart, enlightened Black man but he has found a way to be that n&gger and still do everything that sick, demented White people do.  Because he has the money to get away with it as he has earned that right.  You would be doing it to if you had the money and someone showed you the way.  So if you follow him, you can get to that level artistically, spiritually, and intellectually that the Black church and the mainstream media (did I forget the establishment), has been trying so hard to keep us away from.  You know because everyone wants to keep a n&gger in bondage, everyone wants the chains around their neck and the ball chained to their foot.  Whatever happened to bringing us out of our situation so that we could build a better community?  Whatever happened to addressing the hypocrisies of being a Black person, accountability and getting our act together?  Sure we all know that Jesus saves, but we also know that you can run far, far away in the opposite direction to attempt to get away from God, as you and Katy Perry continue to remind us that you are doing.  But what lies at the end of the rainbow?  I love great art as much as the next person.  But I have to ask myself why am I enjoying this art.  There are millions of great artists some controversial and provocative some lame some that are patriots and some that espouse traditional American values, like Norman Rockwell.  Am I going to find anything through this art?  Am I going to discover myself or am I going to lose myself in the nuances and contradictions of this art?  Perhaps I need to do so, perhaps I cannot trust anyone and everyone is a hypocrite and I need to follow someone that can be there for me when I hate humanity and everything that it stands for and I would prefer a world of animals and robots.  I’ve done that, I’ve been there, and all it leads to is more depression, more addiction, more distance between me and God and more hatred, and I have forgotten why I am angry.  All of you Negroes want to be artists and try to reinvent the wheel by creating this mash up and stealing from all of the great artists throughout time and marketing yourself effectively and creating controversy and being provocative and being narcissistic with your self-aggrandizement trying to be profound and tell us something that no one has ever heard before.  It has all been done before, so many times, on so many different levels and actually by Black artists (although they will never tell you that) as well as the Whites whose ground they walked on you worship.  Nothing new under the sun, expect your own rhetoric that you can keep to yourself.  I have enough of my own to last me for a while …

Eminem bows to gay pressure for Hyde Park show

Posted by admin Comments off

Ten years ago the world was quite a different place when it came to discrimination – particularly in regards to bigotry aimed at sexual preferences.

As a music genre Rap is littered with what many would term misogynist and homophobic lyrical content. As the world changes such blatant discrimination is no longer being tolerated – at least by the gay brigade.

Although not retracting the anti-gay content in his lyrics, rap star Eminem has bowed to pressure from gay rights activists and will be omitting offensive anti-gay references during his forthcoming UK appearance.

The face off between the star, real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III, and gay rights group OutRage! came soon after Mathers expressed interest in the offer to appear at Wireless Festival. The music event, owned and managed by Live Nation, is held yearly in London’s Hyde Park and attracts tens of thousands of fans over several days.

Organisers feared picketing by OutRage! could spell disaster for both the event and Eminem’s performance and have since received assurance from Mathers that anti-gay lyrics will not be used during his show.

It’s not the first time the two have met.

In 2001 OutRage! demonstrated outside venues throughout Mathers UK tour. Eminem has not performed in the UK since, apart from a secret show in Islington in 2004.

OutRage! spokesman David Allison said: “We have a condition that he does not use lyrics that encourage or incite hatred against gay people.

“He is free to express his views on gay people, as long as he stays off the violence and hatred. He has got plenty of other lyrics to choose from.

“I think he realises singing songs advocating hate and violence just won’t wash any more. Society’s moved on in the last 10 years.”

OutRage! Have also collared dancehall stars such as Buju Banton and Sizzla for what they allege to be homophobic lyrics that incite hatred and violence against gays. Both artists have in response cancelled shows in the U.K.

Justin Bieber is Still on The Charts; Discrediting All of His Haters!

Posted by admin Comments off

I love Justin Bieber; here is a young kid bringing that wholesome, All-American pop music back and everyone hates him! He has been active since 2007, but it was not until his debut release My World was certified platinum that people really began to take him seriously. His follow up My World 2.0 released this year, sold 283,000 copies the first week making him the youngest artist to top the chart since Stevie Wonder did so back in 1963!

You have to love it; in fact his second release is already certified platinum and it will be interesting to see just how far Justin Bieber can go this time around. The irony of Justin Bieber is that his work is a contradiction between the traditional pop sound, and forward leaning records with recording artists such as Ludacris and Sean Kingston. He has something for everyone and is not another Hanson or Jonas Brothers, as many of his detractors seem to be convinced that he is. The way that I see it he isn’t hurting anyone and just giving young 12 year old girls what they want. His work really is not for my generation at all; I can see why young adults in their twenties hate him, but at my age you shouldn’t loose any sleep over him one way or the other.

I have done the thing with music being “hard” and “authentic” ten years ago and am sort of over it. These days I just want clean, straightforward music without a lot of the hidden rhetoric and symbolism you find with so many of the pop acts out there and Justin Bieber delivers on that promise. Those who are not familiar with his work may be confused as videos for songs like One Time and Baby are actually off of two different records. One Time and One Less Lonely Girl were actually off of his last record, and Baby was the first single off of his new work. Baby has actually placed higher on the charts than those other two songs.

As interesting as Justin Bieber as a lot of his support comes from social networking sites like Twitter, where a search on his name reveals that he is pretty much one of the ten largest searched terms on Twitter every single day. Occasionally he drops off of the list but then he will return the very next day. I noticed the phenomenon after Michael Jackson dropped off of the list as the events surrounding his death made him a heavily searched topic last year. If that is the case on the Internet in general is unsure, but a Google search will yield over 31 million results, which is far more than Ludacris and Nicki Minaj have combined.

It is anyone’s guess when the phenomenon of Justin Bieber will become a distant memory, if it ever does. While going platinum in this climate is impressive, adults probably will not take him seriously until he sells three or four times as many records. Even then, it is hard to take someone seriously whose flame could die out as quickly as it came about. Then again if Justin Bieber has learned anything about this business, it is how to extend that fifteen minutes of fame across more than just two albums.
